Shahid Kapoor was the first choice for Ranbir Kapoor's character in 'Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani'?

Did you know that it was not Ranbir Kapoor but Shahid Kapoor who was first approached for the film? Yes, you read it right! According to reports, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi had first approached Shahid for the lead role of ‘Prem Shankar Sharma’ in the film. However, Shahid felt that the character of Prem Shankar Sharma is similar to that of Aditya Kashyap that he played in ‘Jab We Met’.So he declined the offer. The director then offered the role to Ranbir.

While this was the first venture of Ranbir and Katrina’s , Rajkumar Santoshi and Shahi Kapoor went on to work with ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’ which also starred Ileana D’Cruz in the female lead role.
